Blackout Curtains Singapore: Check Edge Light, Tracks and the Whole-Room Result
Compare blackout curtains by fabric, lining, overlap, tracks and installation. Discuss the full window rather than relying on a fabric label.
Blackout curtains are often chosen for bedrooms, but the fabric is only one part of light control. Before ordering in Singapore, discuss the whole window with the supplier, including the top, sides, centre overlap and floor junction. A material description alone does not establish how dark your finished room will be.
Define the result you want
Explain when the room is used and which light is causing difficulty. Show the supplier the actual window and any gaps around the existing treatment. Ask what result the proposed arrangement is designed to achieve and what limitations remain.
Consider privacy and daytime use too. You may want a separate sheer layer rather than keeping heavy fabric closed whenever privacy is needed. Ask how the layers operate and where each gathers when open.
Specify fabric and lining
Record the exact reference, colour, lining and care instructions. Ask how the light-control description is supported for that material. Review a working sample where possible instead of interpreting a dark fabric colour as proof of blackout performance.
Confirm panel count, fullness and finished length. Ask whether seams, joins or lining details affect the appearance. If a fabric is substituted, have the replacement approved before production.
Coordinate the track arrangement
Discuss overlap, returns and the position of the track relative to the opening. Have the supplier assess the proposed fixing location and support. If a pelmet or ceiling recess is planned, show the detail to both the curtain installer and renovation firm.
Check the treatment against window handles, air-conditioning and furniture. The final installation should still allow practical window use and cleaning. Ask how tracks and fabric can be removed for future maintenance.
Compare the full installed price
Separate fabric, lining, tracks, accessories, motor components if any, measurement and fitting. Ask about removal of existing treatments and any making good. Clarify which alterations are included if the finished length needs adjustment.

Keep expectations in writing
