An extendable dining table can provide occasional extra capacity without occupying the same floor area every day. Before buying in Singapore, test both configurations and the process of changing between them. Flexibility is useful only if the table can be extended conveniently in the actual room.

Draw the table at both sizes

Record the closed and extended dimensions and show the selected chairs in use. Include the route to the kitchen, doors and nearby storage. Ask what furniture must move when the table is extended.

Check where additional chairs will be kept when not needed. A compact everyday arrangement can still require a separate storage plan for entertaining. Do not compare capacity without considering that full arrangement.

Try the extension mechanism

Operate the display product if possible. Ask how many people are needed and how the leaves are handled. Obtain the manufacturer’s operating and safety instructions rather than forcing a mechanism based on a short demonstration.

Check locking, alignment and support in the extended position. Ask which parts can be adjusted or replaced and how a service visit is arranged. Keep the product reference and maintenance guidance with the order.

Confirm leaf storage

Establish whether leaves store inside the table or separately. For separate pieces, measure the intended storage location and ask how they should be protected. A convenient dining solution can become awkward if the spare top has nowhere suitable to live.

Review finish and pattern alignment across the joins. Ask about expected variation and whether the complete table can be seen before delivery. Do not infer the extended appearance from a photograph of the closed model.

Coordinate the room

Consider the pendant, rug and adjacent furniture in both configurations. Ask whether their positions support the larger table as well as the smaller one. A flexible table should be part of a flexible room plan.

Compare the supplied package

Check table, leaves, chairs if included, delivery, assembly and warranty. Confirm access through lifts, stairs and doorways. Ask whether removal of an existing table is available and chargeable.
