Wardrobes Singapore: Compare Ready-Made, Modular and Built-In Options

Choose a wardrobe by room fit, usable storage, installation and future flexibility. Compare ready-made, modular and built-in options before buying.

Buying a wardrobe in Singapore starts with a choice that a colour catalogue cannot answer: do you need a movable furniture piece, a configurable system or carpentry fitted to the room? Each route can work, but the dimensions, installation responsibilities and future changes need different checks. Use this guide to shortlist the right type before requesting prices.

Start with the room, not the catalogue width

Measure the available wall, ceiling height, skirting and nearby door openings. Add the bed, bedside tables and bedroom door to the same plan. A cabinet that fits the wall can still obstruct movement when its doors or drawers open. Have the supplier verify critical dimensions before an order becomes non-refundable.

Check how the wardrobe will reach the bedroom. Lift access, stair turns, corridor width and assembly space can affect delivery. Ask whether the unit arrives assembled or in sections, and which access problems would create extra charges.

Choose the type around your plans

A ready-made wardrobe may suit a household expecting to move or change the room. Confirm the actual external dimensions and internal arrangement rather than relying on a nominal size. Modular products offer a choice of predefined units, but ask which components can genuinely be rearranged later.

Built-in carpentry can address particular room conditions and storage needs. It also requires agreement on site measurements, fillers, installation and the treatment of surrounding surfaces. Do not assume that a built-in unit can be relocated without modification.

Compare usable storage

Count long garments, folded items, luggage and accessories before deciding the internal layout. Ask for a dimensioned elevation with shelves, hanging rails and drawers shown. A wider wardrobe with unsuitable divisions can be less useful than a smaller unit designed around your belongings.

Test the display hardware and ask what differs in the quoted specification. Record materials, panel finishes, edging and the included accessories. Confirm the process and cost for replacing runners, hinges or damaged doors.

Compare the installed total

Separate product supply, delivery, assembly, site fitting, old-unit removal and making good. Read cancellation, warranty and access terms before paying. Ask which measurement or finish changes trigger a revised price.

RS Carpentry’s website describes both renovation work and in-house carpentry. Its information is linked below as one example of the custom-carpentry route; it is not evidence that every wardrobe requires a whole-home renovation.

Before you order

Keep the approved dimensions and internal drawing with the written quotation. For fitted work, agree protection and handover checks.
